Job Title: Sunday School Teacher
Our community-focused faith-based gathering is in search of a Sunday School teacher.
Currently, Trinity has 4 children who attend on a bi-weekly basis. There are 4 children who attend on a weekly basis, for up to 8 children in total every other Sunday.
We will work with you to provide curriculum you can use, and orient you to be responsible for planning and leading lessons during Sunday School. An adult lay volunteer from the church will assist you.
Position Description:
You create an experience for the children in your care that will teach, nurture, and help them develop as individuals and as part of a Christian community.
Responsibilities:
• Work as part of a team in communication with the minister and with an adult volunteer.
• Plan and prepare, in advance multi-age experiences: Bible study discussions, interactive games based on biblical stories, singing hymns, group projects related to biblical themes, creative art projects illustrating Bible verses, role-playing scenarios, service projects tied to religious teachings, personal reflection time, sharing personal experiences related to the lesson. Activities are adapted to be age-appropriate. At least 1 hour a week to prepare lessons for Sunday classes using the available curriculum or alternate resources.
• Arrive no later than 9:15 on Sunday mornings to set up and prepare for the children’s arrival.
• Deliver/teach the program
• Maintain a safe educational environment by using risk-management guidelines
• Interact with parents
• Monitor condition of equipment and supplies and alert a Church Board Member when equipment or supplies are needed. If you purchase supplies, receipts must be submitted to the Office Administrator for reimbursement.
• Assist with Christmas pageant and other special events
Communicate with the Church Board on a quarterly basis, in a paragraph report.
A Vulnerable Sector Check, which can be obtained online or at your nearest police station
Work Hours and Schedule:
• Planning per week outside of Sunday mornings. 9:15 to 10:45 on Sunday mornings.
• Renewal for the following year may be available following satisfactory performance and available funding
• An informal review at 3 months and a formal review annually.
• Reasonable absences are expected, notice must be given as soon as possible.
Qualifications and Experience:
You are:
• A person of faith (any Christian denomination), loving, creative, responsible, enthusiastic, progressive in your understanding of God and your orientation to the Bible.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, especially dealing with parents and children in a professional manner
• Satisfactory completion of a Police Records Check & reference check.
• Previous experience in childcare / Training in First Aid would be a bonus for this position.
Hours and Compensation:
Sunday School hours are 9:15 - 10:45am. It is expected that you will spend an hour each week preparing your lesson. Half an hour for family communications, administration, extra prep.
Pay $20 / hour for 3 hours a week. X weeks per year.
The position does not qualify for any benefits, sick days, vacation days or holidays.

If you have any health care needs or require support of substance abuse, please consider attending the Walk –In clinic at The Roxy on Thursdays between 3 and 6 pm

The church is open to any group of renters that want to continue meeting. Any changes to these meetings should be addressed to the group’s administrator.
